15th May
Today we did a full dress rehearsal for my cast. This went really well. Everyone knew there cues of when to come on and off. I got to college at 9:00 but the run didn't start till 16:00. Me, Charlotte and Naomi went to the workshop to make more set and props. We printed out the letters and traced round them. Charlotte painted the word 'pressman' and I painted the 'developers'. I painted the skyline along the bottom as well. I traced around the letters for the keep out sign then painted them. Us three then helped Kim do the tech run and set the lights from 13:00 till 16:30.
We then started the dress run at 17:00. We were at college till 21:20. The run wasn't too bad. It was the first time we had the band and the first time trying to run it all the way through. The first act took the longest to get through because it was the least rehearsed all together. After doing this run we realise we had to go through props and figure out what was needed in each act and when it was needed. We had already decided to only keep act 1 props back stage until intermission then swap everything round. We also had to run a few dance scenes more than once because how we had practiced it was different to the music the band played.
Kim, Kat and Bernie gave us some useful and good notes afterwards.
- Everyone needs to use the whole stage more and come further downstage.
- When bringing on the sofa in our house make sure its behind Kath.
- Go through props and designate them.
- Make sure the movements are sharp and strong during the opening number.
- Keep the wing curtain closed and hold it open for each other to stop it flying out.
- Dialogue must be louder - especially when there's underscore.
- Loud energy during Baggy trousers instrumental.
- Use your phone as a prop when you're meant to be on the phone.
- Get a business card to use.
- Shoes must be worn in the whole show.
- Julie needs a typewriter on her desk.
- Someone make offensive t-shirts.
- Make sure you're standing in the lights and spot lights during your scenes.
- Ray needs to be a bigger character.
- Sing louder during encouragement.
- Tyres need to come on quicker in driving in my car.
- Lawyers wear pencil skirt, heels and blazer.
- No feather bowers in the show at all.
- No wearing plain white shirts - except baggy trousers and Reecey.
- Less black clothing.
