Our House Dance

Baggy Trousers
The piece is a development from what my group created previously (Baggy Trousers first group choreography). Me and megan choreographed the duets using different fighting movements, like slapping, kicking and dodging. We also pulled some movement from the actual production like the ending, walking movements and some motifs. With practice and refinement the piece should turn out well.

The first time we done this dance with the other class added in it was really low energy. And where we'd only been practicing that lesson they still weren't sure on what to do so it was very messy. Me and Megan choreographed the duets with Kat and watched the actual production and used different movements and incorporated them into our duets. The bit where we pull Raven in the middle and snake through peoples arms is taken from the actual show.
After a lot of practice singing and dancing the piece turned out really well. During rehearsals we realised the dance is very tiring so we need to start ding it while signing to get use to it. We practiced just the singing with Kim and realised we're meant to be rowdy school kids so she told everyone to not sing too nicely and make it louder like school kids. However, the spacing of the duets could've been better because there was three down the middle and one on the right and everyone else was on the left so it looked a bit clumped.

Wings of a Dove

During one of our dance lessons, we spent one hour exploring different movement for wings of a dove. We watched different versions of the show and saw different movements and formations in other versions that we could use. Kat then gave us 10 minutes to get into groups and try and choreograph a short phrase. Kat filmed this time.
This was my groups piece. We all contributed to choreographing this and had a lot of fun exploring different movements and different ideas. Our first movement was used in the dance with people using different levels and going one up, one down. The video below is Megan's group who actually choreographed the main phrase we used in the final choreography. We used their ideas and developed them further to fit the larger number of dancers in the actual piece.

This was the actual dance in the show. The dance went really well but it was never fully perfected no matter how much we rehearsed it. During the circle part where we do opposite arms up and down I was unsure. It took me and everyone else a few seconds to figure out when arms needed to be up or down. I had to look around the circle to see what the order was. However, the timing was really good and so was the characterisation of the dancers. They were energetic and happy which was really good because we we're meant to be at a Vegas wedding enjoying ourselves.

Our House

Our house was really strong and energetic. The staging needed abit more work as everyone was mainly upstage so we didn't use the space as well as we could. Kat taught us the main phrase. The choreography matched the piece, was simplistic. During the quartet motif, I was confident in what I was doing and didn't have to look around and my movements were strong. During the duets as well, I knew what I was doing and my movement was strong. I liked working on my duet with Vicki and we created this duet using movement from the actual production. However, when it gets to the counter melody, not everyone was very confident in the movement so not everyone joined in at the same time.
