Main Storyline
Daniels story is about a dragon called Daniel, and his mystical land of dragons. It involve interactive challenges for the children to complete. They then split into teams and answer a series of riddles. The children would enjoy this because its fun and challenging, this will engage them and they'll focus on getting the right answer to get rewarded. The story is about the land of dragons being taken over by the evil creature Gary. The leader of the dragons, Daniel, makes a treaty with Gary to live together. However, Gary then try's to take over the land of dragons again, so the children must complete the challenges to meet Daniel so they can save the land of dragons. This story meets the needs of the target audience because its engaging and the challenges will keep the children focused on the story and allowing them to use their imagination. In the story I play Daniel. I have to control the large dragons head and move him about along to the story. I also have to play card games so I have to use my hands to play and control the head. My character is the main feature of the story, but I don't talk. Andrew reads the story of what happens (being the dragon interpreter) because the children cant understand the dragon language.
We chose this story because dragons appeal to children, it opens up a world of fantastic opportunities and ignites their imagination. The bowl, spoon and cereal are oversized because its something they wouldn't have really seen before and so it intrigues them.
This lesson
I contributed to the work by helping build and create props and started putting my costume. In the lesson I created a big, silver, metallic spoon. I used paper mache to create the 3D spoon. I then had to leave it to dry so I will have to paint it next lesson. I'm going to spray paint it with silver metallic paint, and then add details when it's dry. This is effective to the piece as its one of the main props for the children to use.
I think I spent too much time creating props and should've divided up my time to do other things. I need to work on my time management in order to get everything done on time. I will develop this by making a time schedule and a plan. Next I must complete the props and finish putting my costume together.
