Children theatre lesson 15/11/16

Story change

Today we decided to change our story and re-write it. Our new story is still about the Daniel the dragon but its now and take on the princess and the frog.

The performance starts with Nathan and Maddy reading the story of the princess and the frog to the children. They do this in characters, different to there main story characters. I start as the dragon sitting at center up stage. The children enter from downstage following Victoria through. The children start by doing activities and answer riddles. Maddy enters as the evil wizard 'Gary' and the children have to boo him off. The children collect the spoon, bowl and cereal and cross the stepping stones to centre up stage. Nathan then enters, now as a princess, looking for her prince. He teaches the children the dragon cereal song. They sing the song while feeding the dragon cereal. Now the lights flash, the smoke machine goes off and a magical sound effect begins as i exit behind the back curtain. I then come out dressed as a prince. We changed out story so it flows better and is more understandable and clearer to the children.

We wanted the audience to understand that the dragon needed to be turned into a prince. To help them understand this, first we will tell them the princess and the frog - as its a known fairy tale. Vicki will then go out and tell them we have a similar problem and explain that "Daniel" wasn't always a dragon and they must help turn him back to a prince. Vicki will then tell them the only way to turn him back is to find the cereal, bowl and spoon and feed him the magic cereal.
